With the cost of living on the rise in Australia, many people are opting to purchase a used car rather than a new one.
The July 2024 data from the Australian Automotive Dealer Association shows the demand for used cars has strengthened significantly.
With the commencement of the new financial year, buyers have flocked to the used car market taking advantage.

So, which used cars are most popular?

The Volkswagen Golf was the tenth most popular used car in July 2024 with 2219 sold across Australia. On average, the European Hatchback sold in around 41.1 days.

Mazda’s biggest seller and buyer’s favourite the CX-5 came out as the ninth most popular used car sold with 2,305 on the market across Australia.
On average, the midsize Japanese SUV sold in around 38 days once advertised.

The award-winning RAV 4 had a total of 2,536 sales across Australia in the used car sales market for July 2024.
With high performance and fuel efficiency, the versatile vehicle sold in an average of 38 days once listed.

Coming in at number seven is the Toyota Camry. The popular family friendly car had a total of 2,623 sales across Australia.
Both comfortable and spacious, the medium sized sedan sold on average in 37 days once advertised.

In sixth place on the top used car sales list in Australia over the past few months is the popular Mazda 3.
The Mazda 3 jumped by 126 sales from the previous month totally 2,652 sales in Australia.
On average, the popular choice for many Aussies sold in just 33 days once listed.

Coming in at the halfway point is the ever so popular Mitsubishi Triton. Produced by the Japanese manufacturer, the Triton had a total of 2,686 sales in the used car market across Australia.
The 4x4 Ute sold on an average of 44 days once listed.

Before we get to the top three, the Hyundai i30 took out the fourth spot with 2,829 sales across Australia in July 2024.
Hyundai models have been praised for their localised suspension and steering collaboration according to Carsales.com.au resulting in selling just 29 days after being listed.

Kicking off the top three is the Toyota Corolla. Setting the benchmark for compact family cars for generations, the Corolla had a total of 3,927 sales in the used car market across Australia.
Jumping up 240 sales since the previous month, the compact sedan sold in an average of 33.2 days once listed.

In second place, in the runner up spot is none other than the Toyota Hilux. With a total of 4,441 sales across Australia, this extremely reliable Ute jumped in sales by 81 vehicles across the used car sales market.
On average, the Hilux sold in 42 days since being listed.

Taking out the top spot was the one and only Ford Ranger. With a total of 5,711 sales across the used car market in Australia, sales surprisingly dropped by 2.4% compared to the previous month’s sales.
Offering a breadth of capability in off-roading and heaving-towing related use the popular pickup truck sold on average in 46.8 days once listed.
